Dr. Jesse Johnson is a native to the state, raised in Silver City, NM. He attended the University of New Mexico where he majored in biochemistry and molecular biology before completing his dental education at Creighton University's School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Before dentistry Dr. Johnson worked as a Wildland Firefighter in Grants, NM and in the Gila National Forest. Dr. Johnson is excited to be back in New Mexico near friends, family, and the mountains and forests he loves. In his free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys hiking, fly fishing, and wood-working.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

From a very early age, Dr. Johnson always enjoyed working with his hands. From tinkering and toy model building, to painting, carpentry, and woodworking, he has always kept himself busy making things. Initially interested in medicine, it was after shadowing a local dentist that Dr. Johnson knew he had found his true calling. Dentistry is both an art and a science, and every patient offers a unique set of needs and desires. The challenge of dentistry lies in providing care that is scientifically supported, clinically sound, and esthetically pleasing in a manner that is as calming and accommodating as possible to the physical and emotional needs of the patient.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Dr. Johnson completed his dental education at the Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Accepted to multiple dental schools, Creighton University was Dr. Johnson’s top choice for having a long history of rigorous clinical experience.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Outside of work Dr. Johnson enjoys many different hobbies. Aside from woodworking and painting, he is always looking for things to repair. He also enjoys exercising, hiking, and fly fishing with his wife and Dr. Ranjbaran.
